EXECUTIVE
COMMITTEE MEETINGS
Executive Committee meetings are held monthly,
normally on the last Monday of every month at 7pm. The venue is
normally the Papakura RSA. Minutes are distributed to all EVSA
Area Representatives and are available for perusal by members.

NZ VIETNAM VETERANS' DAY
The EVSA Executive Committee
has designated 18th August as NZ Viet Nam Veterans' Day, to be commemorated annually, coinciding with Long Tan Day in Australia.
2012 EVSA REUNION AND GENERAL MEETING
At the EVSA General Meeting held 5th June 2010
it
was decided to hold the 2012 Reunion and General Meeting at Paihia/Waitangi
at Queens Birthday Weekend.
A Committee is active in the North, working on putting the reunion
together.It will be held at the Waitangi Copthorne Hotel and Resort,
with events scheduled to take place there and on the Lower Ti Tii
Marae
and the Treaty House grounds.
On Friday registration at the Copthorne Hotel will be followed by
an informal "Meet
& Greet". Various venues in Paihia will be offering special hospitality, including the
Copthorne, and Jimmy Jack's Rib Shack with Tiger beer on tap at discount
rates.Also the
Paihia Ex-Servicemen's Club, which will be providing complimentary
transport to & from, plus a band in attendance and special prices
for drinks.
Saturday will start with a Powhiri at the Ti Tii (lower) marae,
followed by breakfast. Following on from there will be the EVSA
General
Meeting and luncheon back at the Copthorne.For the ladies a special trip to Kerikeri has been arranged, including visits
to the Stone Store, Enz of the Earth, and the Makana Chocolate
Factory.
On Saturday afternoon a ferry has been chartered for the trip to
the "Hole
in the Rock" at a special discounted rate. Tourist s pay $90-those from the reunion will
be paying one third of that. Limited places on a "first come, first served" basis, which will be picked
up at registration. That evening
the President's Happy Hour with complimentary drinks will be
followed by a four course, sit down Reunion Dinner to be
held at
Ti
Tii Marae,
followed
by
entertainment
and a dance.
On Sunday there will be a Memorial March
and Service at the Treaty House grounds,with the RNZN Band in attendance, followed
by a luncheon and "Kangaroo
Court" at the Copthorne.In the afternoon there will be free time, and that evening
there will be a BBQ at the Copthorne with a Country
& Western Theme, and entertainment to match.
Surviving members of A Company, 28 Maori Battalion, will be invited
to attend as our guests.
The initial estimate of costs came out at $175/head, but with fundraising it
is hoped to considerably reduce that figure. There will be a range
of accommodation options available.100 rooms have been booked at
the Copthorne at a discounted rate of $125/couple including breakfast.
Other options include a caravan park for those with mobile homes.
There is the possiblity of a bus being run from Auckland on the
Friday, returning Monday AM.A minimum of 49 passengers is required
with a fare of $60.
6 RAR REUNION
6 RAR have a big reunion coming up in 2015, and would like to have
a strong Kiwi contingent present. Those who served in Viet Nam
with 6 RAR (eg, V4 and two of the Whiskey Companies), and who
are interested in learning about the planned reunion can contact
